A growing body of evidence shows that closing the gender investment gap isn’t just about fairness — it’s a powerful driver of innovation, performance, and economic growth. The European Gender Investment Gap Report highlights the persistent underfunding of women investors and female-founded ventures across Europe.
Despite women representing a rising share of entrepreneurial and investment talent, they still receive only a fraction of venture and private equity capital. This imbalance limits both financial returns and the pace of technological progress.
At Sana Capital, this data reinforces our mission: to unlock capital for under-represented fund managers and founders in Deep Tech — from AI and quantum to biotech and climate. By backing women investors and women-led, IP-rich ventures, we are helping to shape a more inclusive and competitive innovation economy.
Recently, Hanadi Jabado, Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire and Managing Partner at Sana Capital, joined policymakers, investors, and entrepreneurs at the European Parliament to moderate and speak on the gender gap in entrepreneurship and investment.
The event, organised by EISMEA (European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency), is part of a European Parliament Pilot Project focused on addressing the disparities faced by women-led companies and funds. The initiative aims to establish a harmonised methodology for collecting and analysing investment data, helping policymakers and investors develop more effective strategies to close the gap.
A major outcome of this initiative is the European Gender Investment Gap Report, offering the first EU-wide analysis of how capital is distributed across genders in venture and private equity. The findings underline the urgent need for structural change — and the opportunity for investors to unlock untapped potential by backing women-led funds and ventures.
At Sana Capital, we are proud to contribute to this movement by investing in female fund managers who back frontier TechBio and Deep Tech ventures. Bridging this gap is not just about fairness — it’s about building a more innovative, resilient, and inclusive European economy.
